Who is a Mental Health Carer?
A mental health carer is someone who provides unpaid support for a person who experiences mental illness.
Mental Health Carers can come from different background, life experiences and different ages. Many people fall into the role of a carer because they see it as an extension of their responsibility when the person they care about becomes unwell.
Carers may not live with the person that they care for.

The Mental Health Carer Support Program works individually with carers to provide:

- Opportunities to develop strategies and plans to cope with the caring role
- Emotional support
- Information and resources
- Support with flexible respite options
- Advocacy
- Referral to other services
- Links to peer support and mentoring
- Support to transition to NDIS.
