Part Time Contract Position (0.8EFT)
Northern District Community Health (NDCH) is looking to employ a part time, well skilled and motivated person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait descent to work as the Youth Community Development Worker with Aboriginal young people (13 - 19 years) and their families to be culturally strong, support engagement at school and future aspirations.
This person will be working within NDCH’s multi-disciplinary team as part of the Aboriginal Children’s Program and Health Promotion team.
The successful person will work closely with local Elders and Leaders to design and then implement the program.
It is desirable that successful Applicant has an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait clients and their culture, other team members and the local community. The successful candidate will have a desire to work with young people.
A tertiary qualification in a discipline relevant to the position in either Social Welfare, Education, Youth Services or Community Development. Training in trauma informed practice would be a considerable attribute. Experience in working with youth and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community would be an advantage.
A current Victorian driver’s license is mandatory.
